Bridge 11 Horizontal is one of three historic swinging bridges in Pontiac, IL, featuring authentic steel cable construction and wooden plank decking. This well-preserved structure remains in daily use, providing a practical crossing over the Vermillion River while exemplifying early engineering methods. Its enduring design highlights the durability and functional elegance of traditional bridge-building techniques. These bridges were built in 1898, 1926, and 1978.
